Designing a Cheap OrangeryMany people search for conservatory ideas because they have absolutely no idea what to do. Some of them are clueless about which materials to choose from, while others are confused with the number of choices that are available.

In our opinion, the design must be able to fit your house. Otherwise, the conservatory will look out of place. If you wish to save money on the materials, you may want to consider getting UPVC. UPVC is a very durable material, and the price is also rather affordable.

It is also resistant to corrosion, and there is a wide variety of options for you to choose from. Take this opportunity to learn more.

If you are not convinced at the planning stage about using uPVC, for your Orangery frames, an favorable alternative may be to use engineered timber.

Engineered Timber Orangeries

Modern engineered timber is a wood laminate. There are multiple layers of wood bonded together and then machine tooled into the appropriate dimensions. The good thing about this type of wood is that it does not have a single grain like natural timber. The layers are set at  angles to each other so the grain goes in multiple directions. This means the timber suffers hardly way less expansion or contraction due to wetness or drying out.

It’s also exceptionally strong structurally, meaning it can be used for long spans and worked into unusual shapes. Having the ability to be “worked” like this, engineered timber gives you much greater freedom in terms of design options.

However, if you want to keep costs down, you will find that upvc is the lowest cost option. Timber orangeries are going to be costlier (compare conservatory and orangery features here).
