The mBox operating system (mOS) runs on Enterprise-class highly-reliable hard drive systems with MTBF exceeding 1.2 Million hours, typically found in high-end data-centre servers. Customers have the flexibility to choose required storage capacity. The following table lists all available storage capacity options:

Telephone Expansion Modules

Overview

The mBox telephony expansion modules allow for connectivity to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), traditional PBX systems as well as analog handsets and fax machines. The mBox telephony expansion modules support both FXS and FXO interfaces. In the near future Msona will be releasing BRI ISDN interfaces.

Configurations

Here are typical deployment scenarios related to telephony with the mBox:

FXS is the port that actually delivers the analog line or dialtone to the subscriber
FXO is the port that receives the analog line. For example, the plugs on phones or fax machines are all FXO ports.

Ordering Information

Each telephony expansion module has 4 analog channels (i.e. 4 ports) which can be ordered to be of any combination of FXO and FXS ports as illustrated in below table. Today up to 8 analog channels can be supported (configured in any FXO or FXS configurations) in a single mBox unit and in the near future, Msona will be releasing 8-port expansion modules offering higher port density (up to 16 ports).

DSL Expansion Modules


The mBox today supports 1-port ADSL/ADSL2+ expansion module for connecting the mBox to the Internet.

Msona is making available a compatible 3G USB Modem which can be used in various configurations as per the following:

  • Primary Internet connection: provides the only connection to the Internet in areas where wired/fixed Internet services are not available such as rural regions, construction sites or open-air events.
  • Back-up for a main ADSL or Fibre connection: provides fail-over redundancy in case the main primary connection to the Internet becomes unavailable.
  • Load-sharing with other Broadband connectivity (ADSL and/or Fibre): shares the load with other Internet connections to increase bandwidth and uptime of Internet availability.

Recovery Console Cable (technician or engineer use only)

A recovery console cable is available for technicians and field engineers to strictly use for restoring the mBox to factory defaults, recover forgotten passwords and initialise network settings. The Recovery Console Cable is ordered separately from Msona and is not included in the package.

19" Rack/Wall Mounting Kit

The mBox can be mounted on a wall or placed inside a 19" rack or cabinet using the orderable rack/wall mounting kit. The 19" Rack/Wall Mounting Kit is ordered separately from Msona and is not included in the package.
